A Bonza Jest: Designated Decoy.

At closing time Ron Rozzer is staking out the small towns only pub waiting to catch drunk drivers. Don Driver rolls out of the pub wobbles and stumbles along the footpath trips over the raised concrete garden bed edge in the pub carpark, fumbles around for his car keys for 10 minutes, finally he fires up the engine roars off out of the pub carpark down the road, where Ron Rozzer with blue lights flashing and sirens wailing on his unmarked police car pulls him over.

Coming to a stop on the side of the road Ron Rozzer gets out of his unmarked police car strides over to Don Driver and asks him to take a breathalyzer test, after a few seconds the test result shows a blood alcohol reading of 0.0.

Gobsmacked Ron Rozzer asks, How can this be?, I saw you wobble and stumble along the footpath and into the pub carpark.
Don Driver replies, That's easy to answer because tonight i'm the Designated Decoy so everyone else can drive home drunk!.

very clever, I had to read twice, I am thinking of the duck decoy used in the duck shooting season.

I added a photo of part of our new parking meter.

I am surprised you still use the old meter. I didn't notice in the gold Coast as I always parked in the free shopping mall ar parks.

That trick only works once - the next time Ron'll swoop in before he gets a chance to drive off!

G' Day ANNA, Plenty of parking meters on the Gold Coast if not more than Melbourne. That new parking meter looks a real money spinner for someone. I'm glad you found it very clever.

G' Day MADAMEBUTTERFLY, It should work again with different people and cars taking turns. There's no point swooping on him before he takes off he's got to be on the road to any take action.

G' Day LYN, Agreed.

Like it.

As a non-drinker, I reckon I could make a fortune on the pub circuit in Cardiff!

Over here you just have to get into the car with the keys in your hand - it is the intention to drive, it doesn't really stand up in court if you have a clever lawyer but it is enough to get you nicked. (To quote "The Bill")

G' Day MADAMEBUTTERFLY, You have to be in the act of driving on the public road or be parked to get nicked over here. I watched the Bill for many years sad that's it's finished.
